LUCAS at the American Heart Association Congress 2006

17th of November, 2006

Medtronic Emergency Response Systems, the global distributor of the LUCAS Chest Compression System, displayed LUCAS at the AHA congress 2006 in Chicago. Cardiologists and anaesthesiologists, who have a deep interest in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), showed their enthusiasm over the recently FDA-approved device. The LUCAS device does not only provide effective chest compressions uninterrupted and tirelessly to ensure blood to the brain and heart, but it also opens up for transportation to more sophisticated treatment. Especially the potential to use LUCAS in the angiography laboratory setting caught a lot of interest. LUCAS can be used during percutaneous coronary interventions, enabling diagnosis and treatment, yet eliminating the risk of X-ray exposure to a CPR provider. This opens up new opportunities in treatment of patients with cardiac arrest - and a reason to transport the patients to the hospital.

"There are huge possibilities with the device. Especially in the pre-hospital setting, several accounts are eager to start to evaluate and use the device in their services." says Erik von Schenck, CEO of Jolife. Directly after the congress Medtronic's sales force will initiate a targeted launch of the LUCAS device in the US.
