The heart compression system LUCAS has received the CE certification

Lund, October 2003

LUCAS Chest Compression System has received CE-mark. This means that the system can now be used actively in the medical care for the resuscitation of cardiac arrest patients.

"LUCAS is now available to those in great need; in addition to patients, mainly medical care professionals within intensive and acute care and paramedics. It is most satisfactory to be able to offer a system that increases the cardiac arrest patients' survival chances in such a life-threatening situation", says Peter Sebelius, R & D Manager of Jolife AB, who is responsible for the development of LUCAS.

LUCAS is a mobile system for mechanical heart massage. It performs the task of one paramedic, thus allowing the ambulance staff to continue with other resuscitating treatment. LUCAS operates continuously for longer periods of time with unchanged efficiency, which is close to impossible to achieve manually, but crucial to the patient.
