Jolife launches product update to harmonise standards
Lund, Sweden, 6th of February 2009
Jolife launches a product update of the European LUCAS Chest Compression System to establish one global product standard - based on the US 510k cleared version. This LUCAS version constitutes the latest technology incorporating e.g. improvements in pneumatic operation, offering a broader compatibility with air standards and fitting larger patients compared to the first version that was launched in 2003.
For the European and outside US LUCAS customers the main difference will be visual, as the colour of the LUCAS air hose is changed from white to yellow/green. This colour combination relates better to the different European colour standards for compressed gases and reduces the risk of misinterpretation on what gas to use. The latest LUCAS version can only be operated on compressed breathing or medical air.
The updated version will be shipped to customers in Europe, Canada, and other markets out of US from February and onwards.
About LUCAS™ CPR
The LUCAS™ Chest Compression System helps ambulance and hospital personnel to save patients suffering sudden cardiac arrest. The device performs continuous chest compressions to maintain blood flow to the brain and heart. International resuscitation guidelines issued in 2005 stress the importance of effective and uninterrupted chest compressions prior to defibrillation. LUCAS performs chest compressions in accordance with these guidelines, without risking quality variations or tiring out personnel. The device has been shown to increase blood circulation in the patient and to be as safe as manual compressions. It allows for a safe transportation and simultaneous interventions such as defibrillation and angiography.
